How RTE, TV3, BBC, UTV can sleep at night is beyond me, with the rubbish they show.

TV3 in particular - threash tabloid television. Ireland's version of ITV1 or the Sun newspapaer on screen. Total thrash - should be shuit down as its turning teenage girls into braindead morons.

dunno if its turning them into idiots but it is certainly catering for tabloid culture, if culture is the right word.

Ya, fair play to them, they're miles ahead of the rest of them, not just in the quantity of games shown, but also in their top quality commentary and punditry. A breath of fresh air compared the banal stuff you here on RTE especially.

There's nothinmg even remotely Irish about the station. Is it any wonder its the home of such inane pointless crap as Expose. Nothing educational or cultural at all, just another outlet for followers of celeb culture who are a complete waste of oxygen.

But at least they have a budget problem.

RTE & BBC (particularly) have massive budget, and their output is mainly rubbish.

That's because they, and RTE in particular, spend a huge chunk of their budget massively overpaying their big name, and not so big-name, presenters.

Let's not forget to give thanks for His Excellency, President Michael Daniel Higgins, without whom we would not have TG4!

Best documentarys, RTE shows the same generic nature docs or the occasional home made stuff, which has deteriorated rapidly into programmes Charlie Bird always fancied making. TV3s documentaries are mindless tabloid rubbish. Best films, RTE goes straight for what Hollywood recommends only showing good films in the middle of the night. TV3 must have exclusive rights on every Jason statham disaster, with a few tear jerker tv movies to cement their reputation. Best sport of course and their dramas aren't half bad. First station in the world to show the wire too outside America!

They have Breaking Bad now, starting tomorrow night form series one! Fantastic programme for those of you unfamiliar with it ,well worth tuning in. How RTE didn`t get this and tg4 did i don`t know. Not sure how it works but RTE missing out on that is bad

Agree with all the positive comments. TG4 is fantastic, GAA coverage is excellent, we wouldnt see half as much GAA if TG4 werent around. But the quality of the documentaries is really impressive. Watched the Dan Shanahan Laochra Gael programme the other day, really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the Jimmy Barry Murphy one too.

Expose is also on at 6 pm, primetime for those interested in shoes and handbags and lalala land. F**K OFF!!!!

Plus the weather girls on TG4 are superior. Good wholesome Irish county women!! There's one with the low cut tops. God almighty, I'd say you could fill her with booze, and she'd end up throwing your jocks up on top of the wardrobe....
A V8 ride!

You know the way you have 1 litre cars, 2 litre etc. Then you have the yankee V8 muscle cars. Well if you were to compare dartage to car engines, the TG4 weather girls would be V8....They would give it back to you small...

To be fair i think the BBC is miles better than RTE and i wouldn be that harsh on it, but ya TV3 is a total pile of dung,

TG4 is a godsend for GAA, and has good analysis as well, not like the brutal stuff tv3 pass up as punditry and analysis the last few summers, and why doe smatt cooper geet evey gig on it, be it GAA, Soccer or Rugby? Surely it can be shared around!

How is a man supposed to get a bit of outside work done of a weekend with all this live stuff on TG4!!!!

They are a serious TV station

The concept of the Laochra Gaels. All Ireland Gold etc. are beyond all. There are very few of the Laochra Gaels or All Ireland Golds that I havent been glued to. There is a massive appetite for GAA archive material among GAA people.

In fairness I tend to be glued to RTE GAA material too, but the big difference is that GAA programmes on TG4 are aimed at GAA people.

On the other hand GAA programmes on RTE can sometimes tend to be aimed at the wider non-GAA audience rather than exclusively at a GAA audience.

The GAA aside, which they completely own, the documentaries they put out are miles ahead of the competition. Some of the series with Dermot Somers in particular were incredible, and their Irish history documentaries are generally very, very good.

Even Feirm Factor is about the only reality TV show that's half tolerable!

Come on will ye.....! RTE deserve some credit. Where else would you find such cultural excellence as Brendan O'Connor and Saturday Night Live?

The BBC is a pile of sh!te. They have a budget of €5,800,000,000, while RTE is 372,000,000. That is over 15 times better, the BBC's output is certainly not 15 times better than RTE.
