I'd hold off on that one. We've seen far too many false dawns from Mayo.

Stranger things have happened, Villa are a carbon copy of Birmingham last season at this stage imo.

Aston Villa v Sunderland
Aston Villa v Bolton
West Brom v Aston Villa
Aston Villa v Tottenham
Norwich v Aston Villa

Nothing easy there Perth in fairness.

Sunderland are tricky, Bolton play better away from home, West Brom is a tough away Derby game, Spurs will be pushing for a top 4 finish with Arsenal and Chelsea and Norwich on the last weekend could be tricky too.

I'd say there are some nervous Villa fans about this morning, PP has slashed their relegation odds in from 10/1 to 5/1 today.

A Draw against Sunderland
A home defeat against Bolton
Away to West Brom in a Midlands derby this weekend!
Spurs at home, who will be battling to 3rd spot!
And Norwich away on the final day.

Sweaty underpants time me thinks.

Opinions now?

how many points do villa need to be safe? my guess is probably a max of 2 more points.while Villa are close to bottom its the teams below them that need to make up the gap. there's only a maximum 9 points on offer (except bolton have a potential 12) you must factor in that QPR ( who have to make up 2 points and 4 goals on villa) have to play both man city and chelsea away and stoke at home. Blackburn have to make up 5 points on villa (and 12 goals) play Wigan (2 points behind villa and 12 goals) so both teams can't collect 3 points. Blackburn also have spurs and Chelsea away. it will take a lot to go wrong for Villa to get relegated.5/1 actually seems a bit skimpy to me.
then again football is a funny old game !!

Infairness they would be no lost to the premiership from a point of watching them..they have been horrible to watch, even their own fans have said so over teh season, they are a big club but they are going nowhere..........

Not good alright Carryharry but I started a thread at xmas saying Villa were in for a tough season, il see can i find it.Nothing easy left and with the record that the giner tosser has at getting teams relagated,it just might be. Did you get on at 10's and if so how much?

I didn't get on Perth, but a friend of mine backed them to go down @ 16/1 3 weeks ago and that's why i asked orginally if people saw value in it.

I think QPR will go down along with Wolves so that leaves the following fighting it out.

15 Villa P35 36 points
16 QPR P35 34 points
17 Wigan P35 34 points
18 Bolton P34 33 points
19 Blackburn P35 31 points

Villa have
BPL 28 Apr 2012 v West Brom (A)
BPL 6 May 2012 v Tottenham (H)
BPL 13 May 2012 v Norwich (A)

QPR have
BPL 29 Apr 2012 v Chelsea (A)
BPL 6 May 2012 v Stoke (H)
BPL 13 May 2012 v Man City (A)

Wigan have
BPL 28 Apr 2012 v Newcastle (H)
BPL 7 May 2012 v Blackburn (A)
BPL 13 May 2012 v Wolves (H)

Bolton have

BPL 28 Apr 2012 v Sunderland (A)
BPL 2 May 2012 v Tottenham (H)
BPL 6 May 2012 v West Brom (H)
BPL 13 May 2012 v Stoke (A)

Blackburn have
BPL 29 Apr 2012 v Tottenham (A)
BPL 7 May 2012 v Wigan (H)
BPL 13 May 2012 v Chelsea (A)

Tough to call but Villa have as hard a run in as everyone bar maybe QPR.

Hard to see where Blackburn get the points to survive.
